President's Corner
Dear Bobcat:
College is a very exciting experience,
one that you should embrace with an open mind to the possibilities
available to you as you begin your college career. You will
be presented the chance to become a gentleman, scholar, athlete,
and leader in a fraternity. Joining a fraternity offers you
these possibilities, but you will also establish life long
friendships with these men who will be their throughout your
life. Joining a fraternity is a great experience, you will
be given the opportunity to become the leader you never knew
you could be and more.
Joining a fraternity allows
you the opportunity to become the man that you have always
strived to be. If I had not joined my fraternity I can honestly
say that I would not be the the man that I am today. I feel
privileged for the opportunities that have been afforded
me and I’m thankful for the impact it has made on my
life. I encourage you to read through this recruitment
book and think about the impact joining a fraternity could
potentially have on your life. Discuss this with your
parents and others that you respect about this decision and
get their input. Fraternities have had challenges in
the past but as President of the Interfraternity Council
(IFC), I can tell you that you can be a catalyst to affect
positive change through your involvement. The
IFC is striving to provide adequate resources that will allow
members to excel academically as well as help members develop
their leadership skills. The IFC is seeking men such as you
to lead the fraternity movement to the next level.
The decision to join a fraternity
is one of the best decisions I have ever made and it is one
that I will never forget. This decision not only enhances
your collegiate experience during your tenure at Texas State
but is a part of you for the rest of your life. I
look forward to getting the chance to meet you in the fall
and please take the opportunity to review the IFC website
for more information about fraternity life.
Sincerely,
Brett Baker
