Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Taylor Hubbard, a senior member of Phi Eta Sigma, is also in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee as a member of the track and field team. As of last Monday, the Southland Conference decided to have a contest between schools to see who could collect the most aluminum can tabs. For every pound of tabs that we collect, a FREE chemotherapy treatment will be given to a cancer patient in a local Texas hospital. She is the main person heading this endeavor and we will be collecting the tabs until the end of April so please start making a habit of saving them. She will be glad to come collect them from anyone at their convenienve. Her cell phone number is (469) 583-9635 and her email is th1223@txstate.edu. You can drop the tabs in our cubicle in a bag with your name on it.
When: Now!
Members will earn: points

A.W.A.R.E. (Always Wanting a Riding Experience)
What: A.W.A.R.E. is a Texas based not-for-profit (501©3) organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults with physical, emotional, and learning disabilities. For individuals with disabilities, equestrian assisted activities have been shown to improve muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination, and motor-development as well as emotional well being. And it is fun! Volunteers will help lead the horses or will help sidewalk (making sure the child stays in the saddle and they will help with the activities). Call (512) 754-6773 to ask about a training session or about visiting the program.
When: You can volunteer as little as one hour, once a week or more hours if you want (and if space is available)
Where: Near the Tanger and Prime Outlet malls
Members will earn: hours

Do you know someone who wants to join Phi Eta Sigma but is no longer a freshman? If they can prove that their GPA meets the requirements for membership and they participate in some Phi Eta Sigma volunteer opportunities throughout the year they can join as an honoree at induction.
