Honor Cord FAQs
It is recommended, but not required, that Phi Eta Sigma members participate in volunteer activities. If you want to receive your honor cords you must volunteer and participate in Phi Eta Sigma activities.
To receive Phi Eta Sigma honor cords members must accumulate 15 points and 10 hours within the school year (fall and spring semester). Points and hours do not roll over from spring to fall semesters. However, if, at the end of the spring semester, you are close to getting your honor cords and are short on either points or hours, we will substitute points for hours or vice versa.
Points can be accumulated by coming to meetings, wearing your Phi Eta Sigma t-shirt to the meeting, going to events, helping with fundraisers, donating items to the canned food drive or care packages, and many more ways.
Hours can be accumulated by helping volunteer at Phi Eta Sigma volunteer opportunities. Also, if you volunteer for another organization, those hours will count towards your Phi Eta Sigma hours. To do so, please give Tony a note about what you did, what organization you did it with, how long you volunteered, and have a supervisor (from the organization or from where you were volunteering) sign off on it.
The 'Volunteer' page will always tell you if you will be earning points and/or hours during Phi Eta Sigma volunteer opportunities.
If you want to know how many points and/or hours you have accumulated, please email Tony at ab1596@txstate.edu with the subject 'Phi Eta Sigma Points/Hours'.
Note: This honor cord FAQ applies specifically to the Texas State University chapter.
