The Non-Traditional Student Organization Scholarship
A scholarship of at least $500 is awarded to an active NTSO member each
spring and fall semester. The scholarship is based on organization participation
and volunteer hours. The student must be a member for at least one long
semester to be considered for this award.
Informal Tutoring
We have members that are in just about every major offered at Texas State.
If you come in with a problem on homework or a concept from lecture, there
is probably someone in the lounge that can help you. There is no cost for
this because our folks are nice enough to do it for free! Just come to the
lounge asking for help and someone will try to help. If we don't know the
answer, we can direct you to someone who can!
Informational Network
Our large member base also serves as a nice information center for a variety
of assistance that includes:
- Locating available housing
- Inexpensive dining
- Computer assistance
Computers/Reference Library
In the NTSO lounge, we have the latest computers for our members to do
homework/projects and check e-mail. In the NTSO reference library, we
have books, videos, CD-ROMs, and cassettes that have been donated by NTSO
alumni and NTSO supporters. Several members, who do not sell their books
back to the bookstore, offer to let other members use them temporarily.
Social Support
We are a social support organization. If you have a problem, someone
in the lounge will be a willing listen and try to help you work through
it. We have a wide range of experience and can help you get through your
college experience.
