Induction Ceremony & Membership Questions & Answers |
No, you do not have to go to the induction ceremony and you will not be penalized in any way. The induction ceremony is just to recognize you and invite your family and friends. It is not mandatory but it is encouraged.

When you first arrive you will check in. We will have t-shirts, honor cords, and other merchandise available if you chose to purchase at the check in area. You will be given a program that includes a list of every new members name. There will be refreshments available and you will be free to those before the ceremony begins. The ceremony will take about an hour and a half and will include guest speakers and then the presenting of the certificates. This is a very special time for all new members because you are recognized for all of your achievements and hard work. At the end of the ceremony you can ask any of the officers any questions you may have or of your interest in becoming an officer for next semester.
Dress professionally, you will be getting recognized for your achievements.
There are a multitude of benefits for joining Golden Key. To start our local chapter gives out two scholarships at the end of the spring semester, this is based on your involvement with the chapter. We have socials that are free for you to come. There are so many scholarships from headquarters that you can win. There are special discounts for members and the Golden Key membership looks great on a resume. There are many helpful job information that you get access to for free, example Vault.com. Once you are a member you do not have to go to any meetings or events if you do not want to. You are a Golden Key member for life no matter how involved or not involved you are. It is, however, highly encouraged that you take advantage of socials, meetings, and other events. Also, there are benefits for attending such as Free honor cords, Free t-shirts, Free food, and so many other Free events.
If you can not attend the induction ceremony you can come to any of our events to pick up your certificate. This includes member meetings, officer meetings, and socials. If a location is not on the calendar yet it will be at least a week prior to each event. It is your responsibility to come to us to get your certificate.
The honor cords are a way to recognize you during graduation. The honor cords are $15 but if you are an active member you can get them for free. You can purchase honor cords at any of our events stated on the calendar. If a location is not stated on the calendar it will be on there at least a week prior to the event/ In addition to honor cords you can purchase medallions. Please click on membership to the left to see what these are. Medallions will not be in until the end of October. You can also purchase golden key merchandise before your commencement, at our rose sale outside of Straham.
Please look at our calendar to see when our officer interest meeting is. Here you will find out what it takes to be an officer and receive the officer application. The application deadline is stated on the calendar as well. If you can not make it to the interest meeting either let us know at the induction ceremony or email us. New and old members can become Golden Key officers.

You pay a one-time lifetime membership fee. Please enter your code at https://www.goldenkey.org/goldenkey/classes/MemberAuth.aspx and this will give you the low one-time cost of joining.
Yes, this is 100% real and you have a active chapter here at Texas State! This is a well-known and rapidly growing honor society. Be proud that you were accepted in, it is only by invitation and that is quiet an honor and accomplishment.
You must be invited by Golden Key to join Golden Key. Golden Key only accepts the Top 15% at each university out of the juniors and seniors. If you think you qualify and you did not get an invitation please email us at goldenkey@txstate.edu. Invitation are sent out each Fall, not in the Spring.
The Induction ceremony for this semester will be on October 26th from 3-5pm in the Teaching Theater in the LBJ Student Center located on the third floor. There will be Golden Key members that will be at the entrance by the ballroom and will direct you where to go if you do not know where the room is located.
No, it is only for juniors and seniors, but keep up your GPA and you could be invited to join your junior or senior year. If your question was not answered in this section please email our golden key account at goldenkey@txstate.edu
