OFFICERS
The Texas State Society of Clinical Laboratory Scientists is a student organization started by a group of CLS students in 2006.
The Society of CLS has activities that include monthly meetings where CLS, Pre-CLS, and other students gather to talk about ideas, information, and further activities. We have guest speakers that come to talk about issues that are present in todays Clinical setting. The organization also enjoys participating in community service projects, fundraisers, and visiting laboratories/healtcare facilities.
Every year a State wide conference is held in different locations of Texas. This year the Texas Association for Clinical Laboratory Science Conference is held in Austin, Texas. This organization provides continuing education, promotes high standards and professionalism in a clinical laboratory practice.
As a Society and student body of the CLS Program, we make two teams inwhich students prepare for competition that the Texas Association for Clinical Laboratory Science has during the conference. The student bowl competition is where other CLS students from various Universities compete by answering questions of Hematology, Blood Banking, Microbiology, and Clinical Chemistry. The TACLS conference also has a Student Forum Leardership and contains a Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. Currently we have two of our last year CLS students as Chair and Vice Chair of the Student Forum.
We welcome all students to be a part of our Society. If you would like more information about the society or the CLS Program please email us at clssociety@txstate.edu. Please visit the rest of our website to get more information. |
